Joining the choir

How do I join the choir?

Entrance to the choir is by informal audition.  Applicants must be able to read music, but the choir is keen to hear from both experienced singers and those new to singing in choirs.  The choir currently meets twice a week on Thursday and Sunday evenings during term time, and although the choir is made up of voluntary singers, a consistent level of commitment is expected.

What does the audition entail?

The audition is short and informal, and will consist of some scales and arpeggios (both to help your voice warm up and to check your range), some sightreading (in English), an ear test (picking out notes from chords etc.) and a hymn at the end.  You don’t need to bring anything with you – just bring yourself!

How do I arrange an audition?

Simply send an email to the director, Benjamin Chewter, to arrange an audition (click on this text to send an email) or phone 01244 500977.
